At cat shows you see a wide
variety of cats - large, small, short hair, long hair, curly hair, no
hair, long nose, short nose,... but they all know they're beautiful in
their own way and they learn to ham it up from a young age. Here
are a few show-offs I met that day.
; - )
The judge is checking the undercoat on this American Shorthair,
Tyler.
Tyler thinks
brushing his
fur backwards is rude.
These two Turkish Angoras are waiting in the judges' ring.
They're beautiful and they know it!
These
bright-eyed and bushy-tailed kitties are always looking around to
find out where the action is.
And here's
Wendy holding her beautiful Angora, Cali, in the show position.
This sweet little
Singapura kitten is only 3.5 pounds. When she's full-grown
she'll
be about 5-6 pounds.
The Singapura is the
smallest cat show breed. I'd say she's about
3 inches tall at her shoulders.
They're known for their large
round eyes.
Their faces look a bit like Abyssinians, who are larger at
about
8-10 pounds.

Here's a fluffy Selkirk
Rex with beautiful blue eyes and long
curly fur like a sheep.
This Selkirk Rex is riding on his mom's shoulder,
looking at me,
letting me know that yes, he knows he's cute.
I think this Selkirk is
bored.
He's used to being the
center of attention
and no one has adored him for 5 WHOLE MINUTES
This Cornish Rex,
named Wall-E, has
*short* curly fur.
I love that sincere face!
Here's another very
sincere Cornish Rex, and notice his little hands look
like hands.
Too
cool.
Here's another charming
Cornish
Rex up close and personal.
This Sphynx is
discussing politics with her owner.
She doesn't
have
any fur at all so you can really see her hands, like a little baby.
And such a sweet face
when she's looking up at mom adoringly
Siamese are noted for
their talkative nature and their beautiful blue eyes.
His name is Souvenir,
short for "Hiway Souvenir of San Toi," and no, I have no idea what any
of these names mean.
Here's an
unusual
couple, Bushke the Burmese (sable brown)
and Iris Jeanne the Oriental
Shorthair (tabby-striped)
Oriental
Shorthairs have a Siamese body and come in all of the other colors.
Bushke stuck out her tongue at me - how
rude!
But then she made up for it by being affectionate-
what a lover-girl !
This is a sweet little
Korat named Twilly.
She is very affectionate.
She shakes hands with strangers.
And when this lady (a stranger) walked up she gave her a kiss.
But she loves mom best.
This Persian kitty
loves her mom too.
Persians have a short nose so they look a bit like a human baby.
This Persian is named Sizzler.
Sizzler wants the feather toy.
He's working out a strategy to capture it...
Maybe if he hides behind his tent, he can catch it.
Please let him have the feather toy...
Oh come on! Let the poor guy have it!
He'll hold hands with you if you'll give him the feather toy.
He sure knows how to
get what he wants.
